Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you are in a group of friends that you have known for a while, and you’ve all been doing similar things in life, and then you find yourself seeing life differently. That friendship group is changing and you can see it. It may stand out so apparent to you, but it may not do so for others. There are many different changes that can happen in the group – there could be a career change, a business moving to another level, maybe breakups in relationships, divorce. You may not have seen it coming, but now it is so apparent, you can see it. And does that make you second guess yourself?
Does it make you question whether you’re in the right relationship with your partner or the right career. People go along in life thinking everything is just right, but when disruptions start to happen in the lives of their friends or loved ones, people can get swept up in the insecurity or instability that has been created by these changes. They start to internalise these changes and start questioning their own life. This is comparison, just slightly hidden.
